Iphone 3GS – Test Videos

Skinsuit Video

Chris, Gene, Craig and Gregg decided to take the journey up Blackstar and descend Skinsuit. SS is a singletrack downhill trail that descends down the back side of the Main Divide into Corona. In order to get to it you need to climb BS and keep going past the golf ball a couple miles until you read the trail head on the left. I’ll see if I can get some more input from the guys as to the exact location. Checkout the video below that was mounted to Gene’s helmet for the descent. Pretty steep in sections and very loose. I would say this is definitely an upper intermediate to advanced level trail. You don’t need a big travel bike but you do need sharp skills.

Rattlesnakes?

Craig, Chris and I headed down to El Moro. Who could pass up riding near the ocean on such a beautiful day?

First, checkout the new video. The video begins as we come across Fence Line and hit Rattlesnake then transition over down Mach One. Crank up your speakers too!

We started on our normal route leaving the main parking area and climbing up Poles. Poles sucked, period. That would be the trail to the left btw.

Insert high heart rate and heavy breathing here.

After successfully getting up Poles, you are rewarded with a brief stint of singletrack before starting on No Name Road.

Jumping ahead, at the end of No Name Road hang a right and descent Ticketron until you reach a small campground with a storage shed. From there you start your ascent of Deer Canyon. This is where today’s fun began. Craig lead us to a singetrack trail that jetted off to the left of Deer Canyon. If you want to know how to find it, click HERE FOR THE shifty map I slapped together. (follow the red arrow)

We didn’t see any signs that said “No Access” or “Trail Closed” so we proceeded. You know you hit the right trail because of the giant bike size hole at the start. This picture stinks at representing the 5-6 foot gap.

Most of the trail is pretty fun, bobbing and weaving through singletrack ups and down.

The last image may show the trail being in great shape but quickly you figure out why this trail isn’t marked and barely ridden. It’s extremely overgrown, just ask my shins. We officially dubbed this trail “Shin Wacker” from all the bushes, trees and cactus littering your path.

About half way up you hit some pretty fun rock playgrounds that would be fun on a big bike. Craig, sadly found out how much cactus can hurt. Check out his face, priceless.

Chris making his way towards the end of Shin Wacker. The trail dumps you on Fence Line, which you can locate on the map. SW may have hurt a little but it was a really great trail. Let’s hope they clear it out and put it on the map so everyone can enjoy it. Thanks Craig! (btw if you are reading this and know of this trail being off limits, oops sorry)

The main reason we hit El Moro today was so Chris could video the descent down Rattlesnake. Most of the ride from Fence Line to Rattlesnake is singletrack goodness.

RS has two main rocky sections, there is Craig hitting the A-Line.

Once wasn’t enough so up he went for another try.

This time Chris charged it right behind him. One of these days I need to hand someone else the camera.

You can’t leave El Moro without a parting shot of the mustard fields. What a gorgeous day out…

Introducing Videos

Chris picked up a Go Pro Wide video camera over the weekend. He has been eying them for some time now and with the new camera mounted atop his helmet we headed out for some video fun. I will be hosting the videos on Vimeo simply because the video quality on YouTube sucks. You may see them pop up on YouTube at some point though so I (you) can watch them on the Iphone. Hopefully, Vimeo will be Iphone compatible soon enough. Here are a couple vids from yesterday and today, enjoy.

The good and the bad

Well, these past few days haven’t been the best in my life. The project Tundra I drive was broken into on my street overnight and my laptop bag was stolen. I never ever leave it in the truck overnight and was lazy one night and look what happens. Why me. So, that really didn’t make for a very good week. Today, my work hasn’t been very pleased by this since it was a company laptop and is giving me a ton of shit. Seriously, do they think I broke my own window? WTF

Anyway, Dino edited up a great video of the past year of mountain bike trips from our club. He did a really great job showing why I love riding with the STR gang. Good friends, great trails and lasting memories… Check it out
